Motherhood

14 Days of Being a Mom – 🖤 Day 6: The Guilt That Comes With Being a Mom

The Guilt We Carry as Moms,

No one talks enough about the guilt that comes with being a mom.

It shows up in the quiet moments.
In the second-guessing.
In the “I should have done better” thoughts that creep in at the end of the day.

Mom guilt doesn’t need a reason.

It’s there when you’re working and feel like you’re missing moments.
It’s there when you’re home and feel like you’re not doing enough.
It’s there when you lose your patience…
and even when you’re doing everything you possibly can.

It’s constant.

I’ve felt guilty for things I said…
and things I didn’t say.

For the times I was overwhelmed.
For the times I needed space.

For not always being the calm, patient, put-together mom I thought I was supposed to be.

But here’s what I’ve learned over time…

The guilt we carry doesn’t mean we’re failing.

It means we care.

It means we’re trying.
It means we love our kids so deeply that even the smallest things matter to us.

And maybe… just maybe… we need to stop being so hard on ourselves.

Because our kids aren’t keeping score the way we think they are.

They’re not counting the moments we got it wrong.
They’re living in all the moments we got it right.

The hugs.
The laughter.
The way we show up, day after day.

Motherhood was never meant to be perfect.

It was meant to be real.

So if you’re carrying guilt today…

Give yourself a little grace.

You’re doing better than you think.

And the love you give your kids?
That’s what they’ll remember most.
